Guided days

Days on the hill.

Winter skills, scrambles and summer traverses in the Dolomites, at two clients to one guide.

02

Two of you, one guide.

Never more than two on technical ground. Four on a summer walking traverse, and only when the party is already fit for it.

03

We move the day, not the plan.

If the cloud base drops below the col we swap to a lower objective the night before, and tell you what to pack for that instead.

04

The kit you do not own, we bring.

Axe, crampons, harness, helmet and the rope are in the price. Boots, waterproofs and gloves are yours to sort out.

05

Meet at the hut, not the car park.

Most days start at the refuge the night before, so the first hour is walking rather than driving up a hill in the dark.

The ground

Rock, snow, and the hut in between.

Everything here is within a day of the same valley, which is why a plan can change at nine at night and still work.

The refuge
01The refugeA bunk, a blanket and a hot meal at nine. Not a hotel and not pretending to be one.
The rock
02The rockFolded limestone, which is why the holds sit where they do and the guidebook is thick.
The plateau
03The plateauWhere a day starts once there is enough light to see the far side of it.
Winter ground
04Winter groundCrampons on at the snow line, off at the ridge, and on again for the way down.

Days, and what they cost.

How a day runs.

TalkWe agree an objective from what you have actually done before, rather than what you would like to have done.
Night beforeForecast at eight, a decision by nine, then a message with the meeting time and what to carry.
Walk inAn hour or two to the ground at a pace that leaves something in reserve for the way back.
Turn roundThere is a time at which we go down whatever is above us, and it is agreed before we set off.
