The interactive feature
Household and lifestyle selector
Choose single or couple and a lifestyle level to see the published yearly cost, with its source and date beside it.
Figures and assumptions. Figures would be the latest published retirement living standards, quoted with their source and date. Illustrative, not a forecast.
The concept
- What it addresses
- Retirement planning guides that quote national living standards in dense tables.
- Who it is for
- Members in mid-career who have not yet thought about income in retirement.
- Their main task
- See roughly what a minimum, moderate or comfortable retirement costs a year for their household.
- The next step it offers
- Use the provider's retirement planner to compare that with their pension.
- Visual direction
- Three lifestyle cards side by side, everyday photography, the figure large and the source small but always visible.
- Copy approach
- Practical and concrete. Holidays, food and travel rather than percentages.
Accessibility in this concept

- Figures are also shown in a table
- Source and date sit next to every figure
